Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMU) provides its students with the opportunity to grow as proficient individuals with its contemporary, sustainable and comprehensive education approach, while continuing to contribute to society through scientific knowledge, technology production together with cultural, sportive and artistic activities. Acting with a sense of responsibility against the effects of the global climate crisis, our university aims to raise the sustainability leaders and decision-makers of the future and to take an active role in solving environmental problems.

For this purpose, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Climate Action Plan (2024-2030), which was prepared under the leadership of ÇOMU Sustainability Office Coordinatorship, was shared with our internal and external partners at the workshop held on September 13, 2024, at Dardanos Campus and completed with their valuable opinions. The action plan includes the strategies of our university in the fields of fighting climate change and sustainability under main headings such as energy efficiency and renewable energy, transportation, waste management, water conservation, ecosystems and biodiversity, buildings and infrastructures, research and education.

This extensive plan was prepared as an important guide in achieving ÇOMU's aims of increasing eco-friendly practices, reducing its carbon and water footprint by focusing on energy and water efficiency, turning to renewable energy sources, and providing a sustainable campus life based on zero waste principles. Additionally, it aims to integrate climate change and sustainability issues into educational programs, develop innovative research in these areas and organize events to raise awareness.

ÇOMU, with the mission of leaving a livable world for future generations, believes that this plan will be a source of inspiration not only for our university but also for all our partners and all sections of society. Accordingly, we invite all our academic and administrative units, students and partners to act together in the application of this action plan for a sustainable future.
