Climate Action Plan Workshop Held

The “Climate Action Plan Workshop”, which was organized in cooperation with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMU) and ÇOMU Sustainability Office Coordinatorship and covered topics such as energy efficiency and renewable energy, ecosystems and biodiversity, buildings and infrastructure, water efficiency, transportation, education and research, and waste management, was held at Dardanos Campus Abide Hall. 

The workshop was moderated by Prof. Dr. Nilgün Ayman Öz, Faculty Member of Environmental Engineering Department of ÇOMU Faculty of Engineering and Sustainability Office Coordinator. The event was attended by ÇOMU Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Evren Karayel Gökkaya and Prof. Dr. H. Levent Dalyancı along with academicians and representatives of public, private sector and non-governmental organizations.

Speaking at the opening speech, ÇOMU Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu emphasized that they prepared the draft “Climate Action Plan” as a result of intensive work with the Sustainability Office Coordinatorship. He stated in his speech, “It is of great importance that the Climate Action Plans, which were prepared in order to raise awareness of the climate crises that have rapidly become a part of our lives in recent years and that our world is facing, and to take the lead in this field, should be put into practice as soon as possible.”

Prof. Dr. Nilgün Ayman Öz, who also took the stage at the workshop, talked about the activities carried out by the Sustainability Office and gave detailed information about the event.

The workshop ended with the opinions and suggestions of the participants.
